Do my clients need to install anything?

No. The client receives a standard SMS and reads the one-time code back to the staff member. Only the business user needs the browser extension, which is covered in the installation guide.

Which browsers and CRMs does Vericode work with?

Vericode works through a browser extension wherever the user can select a phone number in a browser-based CRM, portal or email client. It is CRM-agnostic rather than dependent on a named integration, although browser permissions and protected page types can affect whether an extension can run. What if the client does not receive the SMS?

First confirm the Australian mobile number, wait briefly and try a fresh send. Carrier filtering, a phone being offline, number porting and handset settings can all affect delivery. Follow the troubleshooting and delivery guide before contacting support.

Where is Vericode data stored?

Customer and verification data — recipient details, messages and verification records — is hosted in Australia. Staff sign-in is handled by our identity provider, WorkOS, in the United States; see the subprocessor information on the data-residency page. That page explains the boundary in full.

What does Vericode store about my clients?

Vericode stores the data needed to dispatch and evidence a verification: recipient details, message and provider metadata, timestamps, actors, outcomes and audit events. Can scammers fake a verification?

No single control removes every scam risk, and a code should never override suspicious context. Verification messages are sent through Australian carriers MobileMessage or ClickSend, using Vericode's ACMA-registered sender ID, VERICODE. What happens if a verification fails?

A failed or unconfirmed check is a reason to pause, not a reason to make an exception. Staff should avoid acting on the request, follow the firm's escalation process and preserve the record where fraud is suspected. The suspicious-activity playbook provides a practical response flow.

What security controls and certifications does Vericode have?

Retention and deletion are governed by the applicable agreement, privacy policy and any legal record-keeping requirements. Do not assume that cancellation can erase evidence a firm is required to retain. Review the privacy policy and confirm your required retention settings with Vericode before cancelling.

Is Vericode legal, and do clients need to consent?

A business remains responsible for its privacy notices, lawful handling and any consent or authority required for its use case. How is Vericode different from MFA?

MFA protects access to an account by requiring more than one authentication factor. Vericode helps a staff member check that the person in a live interaction can access a selected contact channel, then records that check. The glossary and How it works page explain where these controls differ.

How is Vericode different from calling a client back?

Accepted Answer

A callback can be useful when it uses a trusted number and a separately controlled process, but the procedure and evidence vary between firms. Vericode makes the phone-number check repeatable and records its outcome at the time of the interaction. Compare the evidence model on the proof-of-verification page.

How is Vericode different from KYC or VOI tools?

Vericode supports CDD-adjacent contact verification and produces evidence of that check. It is not a KYC platform, does not verify identity documents, does not screen sanctions or politically exposed persons, and is not a complete AML/CTF program. Does Vericode satisfy AUSTRAC, TPB or LPLC expectations?

Accepted Answer

Vericode can support evidence that a firm took reasonable contact-verification steps, but it does not guarantee compliance, endorsement or a particular regulatory or insurer outcome. What is in the audit trail, and who can export it?

Each authorised-contact check creates a timestamped, hash-chained record of who requested it, the masked target, method and outcome. The current authorised-contact schema is mobile-number based and does not describe an email target.
