For AML/CTF consultants

A phone-instruction control for your small firm clients

Your clients have programs, policies and onboarding checks. A later phone call asking to change an instruction is a risk worth covering in those procedures. Vericode lets staff send a code to a number already on file and record whether the caller read it back.

Where it fits in a client's procedures

One step staff can follow under pressure

Changed bank details by phone

As one step in the firm's payment-verification procedure, staff send a code to the number the firm already holds and ask the caller to read it back. The result is recorded in Vericode. A correct read-back alone does not authorise a payment change.

Requests to discuss a matter

Front-desk staff can test whether a caller can read back a code sent to the number on file. It does not establish identity or authority, so the firm's disclosure procedure still applies.

A record you can point to

Each check is stored with the time, the staff member and the outcome, which a firm can keep alongside its own file notes and procedures.

In Chrome or Edge, staff right-click a number on a web page with the Sidekick extension and send the code. The standard workflow needs no integration with practice software. Setup time depends on browser permissions, staff onboarding and the firm's procedures. Pricing is published on the pricing page.

What it doesn't do

The limits, in writing, to help you assess whether it suits a client

  • It is not VOI, KYC or customer due diligence, and it does not replace any part of an AML/CTF program.
  • A correct read-back shows access to the code sent to that number. It does not prove identity or authority.
  • It does not confirm who owns a bank account. Firms still need their full payment-verification procedure.
  • Whether it is a suitable control for a particular firm is a judgement for that firm and its advisers.

Talk to us about your client base

We're setting up a referral arrangement for consultants who advise small professional firms. If your clients would use this, email us and we'll walk you through the product and what a referral would look like. If you refer clients under that arrangement, we expect you to tell them.
